The cost of the advert depends on how many people are ‘bidding’ on that niche,

Car loan adverts are much more expensive than goldfish bowls because of the profit and competition involved.

Still it is possible to find ‘long tail keyword’ phrases that the advert costs are very cheap and low competition.

Your advert is also given a quality score by Google, the higher the quality the cheaper your advert may be and also the higher the position in the results.

If your advert gets clicked on a lot then Google will ‘reward’ you with higher placement.

Sometimes its better to have a better sounding advert with a great call to action than being at #1 position.

For example “Don’t buy hair extensions” will get peoples attention and they will click on your advert to find out why not.

Obviously you tell them extensions are great and get the sale/business.

However Google PPC can easily drain your bank account or credit card, make sure you set up a limit or you might make a cup of coffee and come back to see thousands of pounds have disappeared and very few conversions.

Put a limit on your daily spend and track how effective your campaign is.

Successful PPC marketers can make a fortune from this system without worrying about SEO and Google’s ever-changing algorithm.

But like anything it takes time to get the skills and you probably will lose money before you make any, but it’s a very useful skill and a great way to make money online.

Youtube is not just for fun, it can make you money online!

I’m sure I don’t have to explain what Youtube is or how many people use it daily, getting traffic from Youtube is pretty simple, you make a video using some video making software, it can just be a slideshow image gallery with music and text, or full on over the top graphics, the choice is yours depending on your skill level and the market you are targeting.

For example; say you have a site selling/promoting nail extensions, make a video showing how to apply them, the different types etc, fill it with useful info for your niche.

Upload the video and make sure you leave a link to your site, also place a link in the video, at the start and at the end just to make sure it’s seen.

Now that’s the (relatively) easy part done, as you know there are millions of videos out there so how do you start getting views?

First exploit your email contacts, friends and family, send an email with a link to the video and explain what you are doing.

Repeat this with Facebook.

Go to some web 2.0 sites like Delicious, sign up and leave a comment and your link, repeat this for as many web 2.0 properties as you can be bothered to do.

Go to Fiverr.com and buy a gig that gets you Youtube views.

I have seen gigs there that will generate 500-10000 views.

Remember that this is only to get you ranked on Youtube, eventually you will get organic views, and these are the views that really count.

There are other services (paid) online that will generate much more views at a price, but way up the costs and returns before you spend a fortune to get your video ranked.

The plus side of Youtube which is owned by Google is that your video may find it’s way to Google’s organic search results, even to the top of the first page if the competition is not too strong.

Video is a great way to market anything, if you are uncomfortable in front of the camera then go to Fiverr again and pay someone else.

Video converts really well; people are much more likely to watch a 3-minute video than read 500 words of text.

If you are building a site or blog to sell affiliate products then you need to know who your buyers are and write in a language that will appeal to them and convert them to buy, for example, if you are promoting motor cycle accessories then write in the ‘style’ of a biker who knows their stuff, most bikers will be guys aged 35-55 who probably have a descent job so they will have a good education to be able to afford a £10,000 + toy like a Ducati.

So write intelligently. Make sure the spelling and grammar is flawless and put in some ‘personal anecdotes’ of ‘your biking experience’ and things like that.

If you are promoting ‘Pink cameras’ have a think about what type of person would be looking to buy, what gender are they? What age group? Probably young women 16-35 who are ‘girly’ maybe not a great education so don’t intimidate them with a complex vocabulary and too many technical details.

Lot’s of people surfing and shopping online will have an average education, an average wage and aren’t looking for a hard sell just the cheapest price and to find it quickly.

Make sure your site appeals to your audience, guys like blue, grey and minimal graphics for gadget, and electronic sites, have a look at Apple.com, see how the colours are used and the minimal uncluttered design.

You need to look at what the market leaders are using for the design of their sites and what colours they have used, don’t copy directly just use it as a base, so for instance if you are promoting Dell laptops make a site with roughly the same colour scheme and navigation layout.

But don’t upset Dell, they have expensive lawyers…

It’s possible using Google analytics to put up to versions of your site home page and then see which one performs best; if people immediately leave after they land on your site then it’s back to the drawing board.

Google analytics is a great free tool to find how your site is doing. You can see how long a person spends on your site, which pages they view, which page they leave from and much. Much more.

Google analytics is essential to monitor performance and it’s easy to install and monitor, you need it because your competition will use it and gain an advantage if you don’t.

Copywriting web page content to pre-sell or make people buy when they were on the fence is a real skill and descent copywriters earn fortunes, the members area has a ton of information on how to properly use words and images to get people to part with their money.

Why build backlinks to your site or blog? Simple, Google uses links as a sort of ‘thumbs up’ recommendation, meaning if a site links to yours then your site must have some value.

Building links for your site or blog can be very difficult or really easy depending on the route you go.

I choose the easy route after spending months doing it myself, trying to save money and do it ‘properly’ but the thing is it was slow and not very successful.

Google and other search engines frown on buying links and expect site owners to get links ‘naturally’, which is great in fantasyland, but here in the real world unless you are Facebook, Twitter or Amazon you end up buying links to try and beat the competition.

The best way I have found is to buy different link packages, not all packages are the same, you could pay a few pounds or a few thousand depending on which niche/keywords you are targeting, trying to get number 1 for credit cards for example would take years and cost thousands and when the sites already established see your site creeping up behind them they will spend big bucks to buy links and keep their rank.

Link strength depend on lots of factors but a mixed bag of ‘organic’ looking links is what you need to fool the search engines which have lots of ways to detect unnatural link building.

I go with a mix of blog comments, articles, profile links, forum posts, web 2.0 links, directories and links from other sites I own.

Depending on what you target depends on the number and power of backlinks you need, I target small niches with low competition and so I don’t need many links to rank, I have quite a few first page sites that have less than 5 links.

One  fairly large niche I am targeting on a long term project will need around 10,000 for first page and maybe twice that for number 1 and probably take me a year to get first page, big niches are not a ‘get rich quick’ project.

Now I outsource my link building and don’t worry about it, I can buy a package of 6000 blog comments and spread them over 40 sites for around  £30 these are low quality links but a good base, for higher quality I use Buildmyrank.com and a few other specialist packages.

The truth is that most people who try to make money online fail, and most fail for the same reasons.

If you have a full time job where do you find the time to make an online income? this is the number one reason for failure.

Most people try and learn everything when they should be outsourcing.  
Good tools will help you automate things and free up your time, some tools are paid and some are free, I will show you the best of both.

If you can build websites or your good at writing use those skills then outsource all the mundane tasks or the things you know are beyond you. Don’t try and master everything. I knew almost nothing when I started, and I outsourced 90% of the work

Usually people will look at the junk or unwanted items around the house and put them into auction.

This isn’t a long-term strategy as pretty soon your stuff will be gone, then what?

Going to car boot sales or advertising in your local paper for unwanted toys or other things can work to collect more stuff to sell but lets face it that’s a lot of work and all kinds of things can go wrong.

Specializing in a hard to find product is a better option, go to AMAZON.com and see what products are selling well for basic research then find a drop shipper, the drop shipper will stock your item so you don’t have to and post to your client in plain packaging or even attach a custom label you have supplied.

This method means no holding or buying stock but you will have to rely on the drop shipper to post quickly and package well. Choose your drop shipper carefully.

You can of course buy wholesale and sell retail, this means a cash outlay to start and maybe some storage place to keep your stock.

If you have used eBay before then you know that the seller rating is very important, if you have no positive reviews why would anyone take the chance and buy from you?

It might take some friends with eBay accounts to help you out on this part, get them to buy low priced items and leave a great review.

Keeping this seller rating is also essential, that means great customer support, and sending out items very fast and well packed and not selling fake goods like made in China Iphone copies.

When it comes to the sale you can use the auction and see what happens or set a ‘buy it now’ price.

Selling on eBay is a really low cost set up compared to any offline business but just like a shop reputation is important but more so as people will leave a negative review and that can be impossible to recover from.

Some people will only buy from a seller with 100% positive feedback and if you mess up there are plenty of people who will fill your eBay spot.

Google as you know are the biggest search engine on the planet, but their revenue comes from selling advertising space, companies buy Google Ads. which website owners then place on their site or blog and if a surfer clicks on the advert then Google will give you a share of the cost of the Advert.

Google ‘reads’ your site and decides which Ads. to display depending on the content of your site, so if you have a blog about dogs then it will show adverts for dog products. Placing an Ad. on your site is just copying and pasting the code generated by Google, this code has your unique tracking number built in so Google (and you) can keep track of the clicks and earnings.

Now all adverts have a cost, some are very low, only a few pence and some are worth hundreds of pounds. Finding those Ads. that pay well are hard to find but possible, I have just found a keyword that pays around £23 per click, 10 clicks per day would mean £230, but Google will only pay you 60% but still it’s good money if you can rank a site for that keyword and visitors click on the Ad.

There is an entire industry online devoted to how to do this well but Google does not like sites built just to make money from this and will ban your account for the slightest thing.

But that doesn’t stop thousands of people making ‘MFA’ or made for adsense sites and you can buy WordPress themes built to optimize for Google Adsense.

There are even people selling sites already making money from this and for about 6 months to 1 years earnings you can buy an already developed and ranked site and start earning straight away.

This is great for someone with a bit of money to invest but no time or skills to build their own sites.

I have met people earning several hundred pounds per day doing this on autopilot; they barely touch their sites and get a cheque from Google every month equal to a very descent wage.

Don’t get me wrong, it’s not easy to find good paying keywords but they are out there and recently I found a guy selling high paying keywords he had found (which is a great business) some of the keywords for sale were over £150 per click, one a day would be a nice income but remember that these high paying keywords generally don’t generate many searches per month, some might only get 20-30 searches on Google per month.

It’s a balancing act to find a good keyword that pays well and has a large monthly search.

Like any other online money making method there are shortcuts and tips, and  mistakes and rules for doing this successfully, but it is still a very useful way to get online and start making some money.

Still you might end up making dozens of sites before you can quit your job and live off your online money making plan.

Facebook has changed the world we live in, just look at what happened in Egypt, that is the power of social networks, that power can also be used to make money online.

Building a fanpage on Facebook has become a really popular way to generate interest in anything you are doing and that can also be a product or service.

The fact that people ‘like’ your page and recommend to their friends means that interesting stuff can go ‘viral’ and get you thousands of visitors to your site, blog, or offer and it’s a numbers game on how many of those visitors will buy or subscribe to something and put money into your bank.

Facebook is a great way to target a particular audience through Facebook adverts and make money online.

You can set up a campaign and buy adverts for a particular demographic, for instance you might be promoting a weight watching program, so you could buy Ads targeted to women over 40 who live in a city and are interested in losing weight, or if you are promoting a dating site then you could target single guys looking to meet women from a certain city or country.

There is software to automate all this type of Facebook spamming and  it’s a numbers game and Facebook is always looking to shut the door on spammers and protect their users.

It’s really a game of ‘cat and mouse’ with Facebook always trying to catch up to the latest method.

As long as Face book is around people will try and find a way to exploit it and make money online.

If you have some kind of programming skill then creating a Facebook App. Is another way to make money online, but the market is a hard one to crack, however if you do build a popular useful application and it goes viral then a huge amount of money can be made.

There are other methods to generate an income from Facebook but remember what worked today might not work tomorrow so in my opinion it’s not a long-term strategy.

Facebook and fanpages can be used along side Twitter to push traffic to your site or even make you look like an authority in your niche, if you have a site or blog displaying thousands of fans then this automatically gives surfers the idea you are trustworthy.

Making money with Amazon through their affiliate program can be an excellent income, even though Amazon pay only 4% commission to start the more items you sell the higher the commission gets, I usually get 6% which is ok but the commission is capped to only £7.00 per item, so no point really promoting items over £150.00

Still Amazon has the amazing ability to get people to buy other things, which make the ‘basket’ better, I have sold tons of things (and been paid) that I don’t promote, like a double bed and LCD TVs, books, DVDs, jewelry etc.

The downside is the tracking cookie only lasts 24 hours so if a customer comes back later than that and buys you wont get any commission; still it converts people to buy because of the ultra low prices and Amazons reputation. Usually Amazon is the cheapest option anyway so if they are buying they are likely to buy from Amazon.

Some big affiliates make thousands a day promoting Amazon products but for this you need a serious amount of traffic so for the small affiliate choosing good products is the main work, choose something under £150.00 and the kind of item that wont break in the post, like bedding or shoes, also stuff that won’t get sent back like clothes.

Not long ago Amazon allowed affiliates to send traffic from Google PPC adverts until they realized how much money they were losing, some super affiliates were taking out millions over the Christmas period when everyone is sitting with their credit card next to the mouse mat.

Amazon is always changing the rules for affiliates but they will inform you by email of any changes or if you are doing anything wrong.

The best way I find is to set up a simple comparison site focused on a product, I show the prices from dozens of merchants and usually Amazon comes out cheapest, it really doesn’t matter because all of the merchants will be affiliate links so I get paid if they buy. People like to see  a list of prices from merchants they know and this helps them by not wasting time checking every site looking for  the best price.
